He started the race from pole position in Catalunya, Marco Simoncelli eventually had to settle for a podium finish without tracing. However, he remains satisfied because it is able to meet one of the goal before the race.

Catalunya MotoGP on Sunday (05/06/2011) night local time, a significant moment for Simoncelli. This is where the San Carlo Honda Gresini rider had won the pole for the first time since the plunge into the MotoGP class.

However, the leading position it quickly disappeared when the race actually took place. After the start, the position of Simoncelli directly sag.

"I do not know what I'm pressing the clutch too long in the beginning, but it slipped and many racers that past me, making me lose a lot of time," he admitted on the MotoGP website.

"After that I did not managed to regain the rhythm that I get when free practice session and I had trouble, although its speed is generally much more quietly," said Simoncelli.

In the end Simoncelli could only finish in sixth position, no better than the results of his races so far, which finished in fifth position which he won twice in Qatar and France.

"In general, this weekend has been positive because after yesterday's pole position six does not feel good. But I have to rethink how I arrived in Barcelona and had to remain satisfied."

"I reached one of three goals from yesterday, which is to finish, so we will try to reach the other two in the next race," Simoncelli said.

Simoncelli arrived in Catalunya with heavy criticism directed at him following the incident with Dani Pedrosa at the Le Mans previously.
