Stoner Will Win Easier With Honda - Doohan

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Australia's legendary rider five times MotoGP world champion, Mick Doohan, admitted that a series of victories achieved along with Honda's Casey Stoner was much easier than when he was with Ducati. It was evident from the dominance he achieved since the beginning of the season until now.

Doohan, who appeared almost no formidable opponent in the golden era in MotoGP series between 1994 and 1998, also said that Stoner did not get a big challenge in terms of mental and physical. With steeds RC212V, Stoner did not need to spend too much energy, like when he tried to "tame" a brutal Ducati.

The proof, in his debut for the Honda MotoGP, Stoner directly incised three victories, of the five series that have been acted. That includes two consecutive wins in the last two series at Le Mans and Catalunya, which allowed him to cut the distance to the ruler of the standings, Jorge Lorenzo.

Facing the British GP this weekend, Stoner just seven points adrift with the world champion of the Yamaha team. By looking at team performance and appearance which is always impressive, is not impossible that it could overtake compatriots Doohan Lorenzo at Silverstone.

"For Casey, moving from Ducati to Honda, of course, provide relief. He has spent plenty of time to ride the bike over 99 percent and that is why mistakes are made. I think, the year when he became world champion with him was the best time and after that , it is very difficult to control, "said Doohan told MCN.

"For Casey, along with Honda all seemed much easier. Honda pretty good last year, and they've made a number of fixes and Casey had to reach out and get a good speed from the beginning.

"Japanese motors, especially the Yamaha and Honda, it feels good when compared to Ducati ride. So, he can push as much as possible to be in front of another rider, and still feel comfortable than when he was with Ducati."

Lorenzo, meanwhile, is looking for a repeat of last year's "almost perfect" British Grand Prix win this weekend. The Yamaha rider has won the Donington GP three times, including victories in 2007-08. But Stoner remains unfazed.

"Jorge is extremely quick at Silverstone but last year I had some bad luck at the start of a race," Stoner said. "I think we can hope for a good performance this year."
