Valentino Rossi made a comparison when he was still competing in the 500cc class to MotoGP at the moment. According to "The Doctor", is now very difficult to overtake another rider.

"Now, with this bike (800cc), but especially the Bridgestone tires and electronic systems, is more difficult to overtake, if we compare it to 500cc and also in the first years of 990cc," said the Ducati rider.
"Because the time between braking and corner entry is much smaller, so the time to take action to overtake become less.
"In the past, especially with 500cc motorcycles, from where you brake to enter (corner) is longer. You have about 30-40 meters to overtake. You are entering the corner with a little more slowly.
"So, everything happens more slowly, so you have more time and easier to overtake.
"Now, from year to year - 800cc, Bridgestone and also all the systems for anti-wheelie and traction control - for me, making overtaking action may exceed the limit.
"The risk to make a few mistakes and also nudge other rider may become more numerous.
"If a rider is on the back and want to overtake, 10 years ago it was easier to do. Over one lap, you can perform that action (overtake) four or five places. Now maybe one, or maximum two."
MotoGP will enter a new era in 2012, when there is a change machine to 1.000cc.
