Jorge Lorenzo look fantastic at the San Marino GP Sunday (04/09/2011). In races for 28 laps at the Misano Circuit, the Yamaha rider was able to beat its rivals from Honda, which is Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner, Marco Simoncelli, and Andrea Dovizioso, who respectively finished behind him.
With victory on the 13th of this series, Lorenzo reveals his hopes to retain his MotoGP world champion. Although it still ranks second, donated 25 points from this race makes Lorenzo now has a total of 224 points and only 35 points adrift of Stoner, who is still firmly on top of the standings.
Lorenzo was ecstatic to be back on the top step of the podium.
"I really needed this victory because the last two races have been a nightmare so to be back with a really good bike is great," said Lorenzo.
For Pedrosa it was another outstanding result since his comeback from a broken right collarbone in the French race in May, an injury which caused him to miss three races, ruining his chances of winning the world title.
"It was really tough (the race). A very demanding circuit. The bike was not like what I wanted," he said.
"I couldn't push it but I could at least catch Casey towards the end."
Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi, who started from the position-11 also showed pretty good performance. Although the bike is not very competitive all weekend, "The Doctor" finish in seventh place and time to enliven the competition for the fourth position.
These results make Stoner failed to realize his ambition to score four consecutive wins after a win in Laguna Seca, Brno, and Indianapolis. Winning seven victories in the 2011 season this fails to win at Misano since 2007.

The race story
