The 7 Series is a luxury car and full-size sedan is only available in four-door sedan or extended. The highlight of the luxury BMW 7-series in general, see the new technologies and design issues before on other lines in the race BMW model range.

The first generation of the 7 series was known as E23 and was produced for ten years between 1977 and 1987th All models of the E23 7 series with the twelve-valve 6-cylinder M30 engine from the 745i side, the performance model with a special high-engine 3.2-liter six-cylinder-equipped M30 was built.
