Stoner recorded a fastest time of 1 minute 38.850 seconds and make the right pole in the race session, Sunday, August 28, 2011.
Ben Spies followed Position Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo in second and third start. Meanwhile, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso followed in fourth and fifth place. Unfortunately for Ducati rider Valentino Rossi who was thrown into the position 14.
