Beaware of Lorenzo Threat - Honda

Sunday, August 7, 2011

Shuhei Nakamoto HRC team principal confirmed that Honda must not underestimate the Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo, in the title race MotoGP world champion 2011. Although Casey Stoner, who currently leads the standings, seeded with a ratio of 5:2 and were 20 points ahead of Lorenzo, but the 2010 world champion holds the potential threat is huge.

Admittedly, the Honda RC212V motors are the most consistent in the competition this season. However, Lorenzo is also showing progress very rapidly because the M1 mount is never out of the two major positions in the last three races. Moreover, with only 20 points behind and the remaining eight series races, it's not impossible for him to overtake Stoner.

"Honda has won seven of the ten races so far," said Nakamoto. "Considering we only won four of the races last season, you might think we already pocketed the title. But Lorenzo is a very tough competitor."

"He will not give up, and I think we'll continue to see the pattern of wins and losses in the rest of the season. A single failure can interfere with the overall competition in the championship."

"We'll treat each race very seriously, concentrate to avoid some mistakes that could cost us some points."

Nakamoto also refuted the notion that Stoner won the last series at Laguna Seca, United States, since the two rivals in a condition not fit. At that time, Stoner could bulldoze Lorenzo in getting the podium after the first number one beat his team mate at Repsol Honda, Dani Pedrosa, who is still in the healing process right shoulder injury. According to Nakamoto, Stoner also in conditions that are not 100 percent.

"Actually, Casey still has physical problems left over from an accident in practice at Assen, and he still feels pain when driving," said Nakamoto. "So, a break of two weeks will be an excellent opportunity for him to get back into perfect condition. It's a good time."

"With the opportunity provided in the summer vacation for physical exercise, I think we'll also see Dani soon return to its original appearance. If that happens, in all races to come will happen fierce competition among the Dani, Casey and Jorge. Three riders this have the ability to win. "
