Valentino Rossi optimistic face the French GP this weekend. "The Doctor" feel his Ducati Desmosedici GP11 has been more competitive in terms of speed following a positive test result at the beginning of last week's Estoril circuit.
The day after the diving Grand Prix of Portugal, where he had to settle for fifth-place finish in less than Andrea Dovizioso toward the finish line and all-Rossi MotoGP rider one day undergo tests at the same circuit. In these trials, Rossi wore motors that have got some upgrades, and the results he recorded the fifth best time.
Well, seven times MotoGP world champion is feeling the bike becomes more sensitive and more refined engine. WAG 32-year-old Italian is sure, these two factors will make the Ducati more competitive at Le Mans.
"From the test results, we can confirm that we have started moving in the right direction. Although we are still in phase one, we hope to find a good setting for Le Mans so we can more quickly during qualifying," said Rossi.
"We all are working hard and we're making progress. However, we must still make improvements."
If Rossi looks optimistic, another case with Vittoriano Guareschi Ducati Team Manager. Although quite sure, he considered Ducati will be competitive only if the race at Le Mans took place on a dry track so they can maximize all the latest upgrades.
"Nicky (Hayden) and Valentino pleased with our work during the trial after the race at Estoril and now we will do everything that can be done to adapt the GP11 with the circuit, which of course is very different than in Portugal."
"We hope this weekend is sunny and the conditions 'normal' is very important to us because, as such, his work can take place."
