Honda Testing Their 1000cc Bike by Stoner

Thursday, May 19, 2011

From Jerez, Casey Stoner got the first chance to test their Honda 1.000cc being developed for the 2012 MotoGP season. Australian-based rider held a trial that took place at the Jerez circuit on Tuesday (05/17/2011). Testing on Honda's 1000 cc motor previously been carried out in April and then by lowering the driver testers Kosuke Akiyoshi and Shinichi.

The first testing session conducted by Stoner on the prototype is 1,000 cc Honda, finished 50 laps with a total distance of 221 kilometers with 800 cc MotoGP tire specification standard Bridgestone tires this year and the prototype of the season 2012. As with the duo when tested the Ducati Ducati GP12 was first, Stoner also just want to feel this prototype motorcycle engine and provide input for future development.

"Everything went very well, very positive," said Stoner. "It's nice when riding 1.000cc again, to feel the engine and its power. I'm very excited, I enjoyed this first day because everything we've tried seems to work fine, no problem."

"We do not focus on anything today, just to try to understand what the motors do, how to react when braking and everything like that, also consider some things that we are dealing with a 800cc engine now."

"It felt good to drive a 1,000 cc motorcycle again. Feel the machine and its power is very fun, I enjoy it all because all the parts on this bike works perfectly. So I have no complaints about this. "Stoner said

But from the results of this test session, Stoner has some conclusions about the prototype of Honda's motorcycle. Among them is the stability of the motor during braking, especially on the front, and the delivery of power from the engine to the wheels is quite smooth. The point difference of 1,000 cc motor prototype with which they use today is not great, so there's still quite comfortable.

"The point appears to be more powerful braking, stability of the front when entering the corners is also very good, and of course we want to understand how the delivery of energy and was very soft so it does not matter. Overall, we did not do a lot of setting changes in the current 800cc machines this, and it was also very similar, so good. "

2007 world champion is also expressed regret for his team mate, Dani Pedrosa, can not participate in this trial because they have to rest to recover from injury a broken right collarbone. The new injury happened because he was involved an accident with the Honda Gresini rider, Marco Simoncelli, the Grand Prix of France at the weekend.

"The biggest disappointment was that Dani was not here to do the test, which of course is important for motor development," said Stoner. "I hope that HRC can quickly obtain the input because we need as much data so ready for next season."

Until recently, there has been no confirmation about the handling of these Pedrosa injury, whether he should undergo surgery for a broken bone connecting it, or allowed to heal naturally.
