Pedrosa underwent surgery on Wednesday 18 May 2011 local time at the Teknon Medical Centre, Barcelona. The Spaniard was handled by Dr. Casanas and Dr Joaquim. Cesar Garcia, a doctor who also operated on Pedrosa in April.
In the operation the doctors put titanium plates in a broken bone in the right collarbone. Thus quoted from Marca.
Right collarbone injury suffered Pedrosa adds new recuperating from injury a broken left collarbone, which he can in practice sessions at Motegi last year.
After doing considerations for 3 days after the MotoGP France (15 / 5) and then, Dani Pedrosa and team doctors who handle it finally agreed to undergo the operation and installation of the bone in the right shoulder buffer. Again? Yup this is the best way possible for Pedrosa to be recovered perfectly in the long term.
"Following the accident suffered by Dani Pedrosa in Sunday's race, Repsol Honda rider was undergoing examination at the Clinica Teknon, where the latest test results confirm the existence of a regular fracture in his right collarbone," the statement from Honda as quoted by the official MotoGP site.
Pedrosa initially given 2 options for the recovery process, i.e by natural or surgically. But the alternative choice for natural recovery does not seem to guarantee the perfection of healing in the long term. For that team doctors and Pedrosa did not want to think much longer to undergo surgery process at Health Central Hospital Teknon, Spain.
Reportedly new Pedrosa Teknon get out of the hospital next week after undergoing an intensive inspection and will immediately undergo passive rehabilitation next week as well. While Pedrosa himself also can not guarantee that it will participate in MotoGP Spain which will take place on June 5, 2011.
Although the injury is not as bad as the left side when he fell in Motegi Japan 2010, but the installation will create flexibility buffer shoulder bones will be disturbed. We await new developments.
Do not want to cover it up on the actual conditions of Pedrosa, Repsol Honda team also provide a recent statement about the tiny-bodied racers. Here's the official release of the Repsol Honda team.
"Pedrosa spent the night in hospital and underwent a series of early-handling process for this kind of bone injury. This is done while waiting for a decision whether he will undergo surgery and recovery by mounting a buffer of bone, or a natural manner. On the other hand he is likely to miss the upcoming series Catalunya. "
If any Pedrosa underwent surgery and recovery by mounting a buffer shoulder bone, but to follow the Spanish MotoGP race at the upcoming June 5, 2011 it's really not possible. Hopefully there is a better solution for recovering quickly. Good luck Pedrosa!
