Rossi will improve half of this season - Schwantz

Monday, March 14, 2011

Former MotoGP world champion, Kevin Schwantz, confident in the perfomance of Valentino Rossi. According to the United States rider, "The Doctor" must still be calculated in the MotoGP 2011. However, Rossi will be in a position to win with his new motorcycle, Ducati GP11, until the second half this season.

Indeed, Rossi's preparations disturbed by the conditions that have not been 100 percent fit. The reason, seven time world title of MotoGP is still in recovery of post-surgery shoulder injury in mid-November.

In effect, the performance of 32-year-old rider was not convincing during pre-season test last February at Sepang, Malaysia. he was never be able to penetrate the top 10. As a result, many people have difficulty assessing Rossi on his debut for the Desmosedici GP11.

But Schwantz, who won the 500cc class world title in 1993 with Suzuki, said that it is too early to judge the chances of Rossi. According to him, the new Rossi's actual performance can be seen when his conditions are already 100 percent, because he's getting dangerous in the second half.

"I think Ducati have to wait until he is comfortable with his shoulder, so that they can find exactly what she needs so that confidence back again in the race," said Schwantz told MCN.

"You always hear talk about how much time is lost on the track. But you do not get the information you need to make a better motor, if your rider not in 100 percent condition.

"They have to wait until Valentino said he was ready and able to race well. We know, that he and Jerry Burgess can do that, but I think JB has not been willing to make changes to the motor when he knew his rider was not 100 percent.

"But I saw, he would achieve victory in the series after the mid-season. I think they'll lose quite a lot of points at the start because of Valentino shoulder, and the direction of development of the Ducati. But once they have started to comfortable and confident, I think they will start making progress, such as the Yamaha and Honda.

"I know, Valentino is joining Ducati because of the money. He wants to win and I think he still has the ability to win the world title."
