Spies Target to Surpasses Rossi in Standings

Monday, August 8, 2011

The journey to become the 2011 MotoGP world champion may have been too far for Ben Spies. Nevertheless, the Yamaha rider want to be in a better position than now.

Therefore, in the second round which will take place this weekend in Brno, Czech Republic, Spies set a target to achieve maximum results that can be ranked five standings. That is, the rider wants to shift the United States of Valentino Rossi, one strip on it.

Looking at overall performance, Spies ambitions can be realized because he is only behind 10 points from seven-times MotoGP world champion is. Moreover, the performance of the Yamaha M1 is much better than the Ducati Rossi GP11.1 mounts.

Indeed, of the 10 series that have been acted, Rossi always get the finish and score points. However, these results are not yet enough for "The Doctor" to stay away from Spies, who thrice DNF alias entry does not finish, namely in Spain, Portugal and the UK.

However, in the last four series since winning at Assen, the Netherlands, on June 25, Spies always in front of Rossi, so he could cut the gap between them. Increased performance graph makes Spies increasingly optimistic, especially against the Czech Republic Grand Prix on August 14, where he nearly took pole position at 12 months ago.

"It's nice to hang out at home with friends and family in Texas during this holiday - the last race took place on July 24 at Laguna Seca. Now I can not wait to get back on the bike, especially in Brno, a track that I enjoy.

"That's a good place for me in Superbike and we showed a lot of potential there in the past year. I nearly took pole position and think could be a candidate for the podium if you do not have the front grip problems during the race."
