Two princes and a piano: Adorable scenes as toddlers William and Harry tinkle the ivories in footage from 1985

By SIMON TOMLINSON

Their piano skills may not be entirely fine-tuned, but this video shows adorable princes William and Harry enjoying family life in perfect harmony.

In the clip from 1985, the young brothers bang enthusiastically on the keys as they take part in a photo-shoot at Kensington Palace.

Watched on by a glowing Princess Diana and a proud Prince Charles, three-year-old William is encouraged to kiss his one-year-old sibling.

Making music: A giggling Prince Harry smiles for the camera as he clangs on the piano with brother William

A right royal duet: William and Harry were captured on film taking part in a photo-shoot at Kensington Palace in 1985

He is at first reluctant, but then lands a cheeky smacker on Harry's head to cheers from onlookers before pulling quickly away.

At one point, Charles is seen playing peekaboo with a handkerchief to encourage his children to look in the right direction for the camera.

Just like any other youngsters, the princes display an endearingly mischievous side - scampering away, hiding under tables and squirming out of their parents' arms.

Brotherly love: William kisses Harry's head, much to the delight of his parents and other onlookers

Peekaboo! Prince Charles plays with a handkerchief to encourage his children to look at the camera (above) then joins them at the piano (below)

Harry, who is just learning to walk, crawls over to photographer Tim Graham to get a closer look.

'Go on Harry, go get him!', someone, possibly Diana, calls out from behind the video camera.

The children are joined by Charles and Diana for a selection of family snaps. The late Princess of Wales radiates as she sits on the floor next to her boys.

Glowing: A radiant Princess Diana moves in front of the camera to be with the kids

A quick touch-up: William re-applies his mother's make up - and proved a dab hand

William even helps his mother re-do her make up as he lovingly dabs her face with a powder pad.

Perhaps it was upon seeing this picture of cuteness that made Kate Middleton go weak at the knees for her husband.

Tindall admits he told lies over drunken night with blonde: Shamed England star now faces fresh questions from Zara

By Simon Parry

England rugby star Mike Tindall was last night facing a fresh inquisition from his wife Zara Phillips after admitting that he lied about his drunken night out with a mystery blonde in New Zealand.

Tindall - newly married to the Queen’s granddaughter - had insisted he went back to his hotel alone after CCTV captured him canoodling with the young woman in the Altitude bar in Queenstown.

Now an investigation by The Mail on Sunday has forced Tindall, 32, to confess that he and the blonde went on to a second bar, Cowboys, where they behaved like a smooching teenage couple in full view of other members of the England party.

Canoodling: Tindall and the blonde in the Altitude Bar before going on to Cowboys

The Mail on Sunday has been given a startlingly clear image of the blonde - who has still not been identified - which was captured on the high-tech CCTV cameras in Cowboys, where she spent more than an hour with Tindall.

When witnesses first claimed that Tindall and the blonde had gone on to Cowboys together after leaving Altitude just before 2am on September 12, Tindall assured England team managers and his public relations representatives that the claims were false.

He was so vociferous in his insistence that, embarrassingly, a partner from the Queen’s law firm Farrer and Co, acting for the Rugby Football Union, was duped into calling The Mail on Sunday last Saturday to claim falsely that Tindall had gone straight back to his hotel alone.

The denials came after Zara, 30, flew to join Tindall in New Zealand last weekend for a reconciliation. They ate out happily together after last Saturday’s victory over Romania, appearing to put behind them the controversy over the first CCTV film, which was shown on YouTube.

Now Tindall, who only married Princess Anne’s daughter at the end of July, has been forced to issue a grovelling apology and admit he lied and went on to visit Cowboys with the blonde from 2am until shortly after 3am.

Last Saturday, media lawyer Julian Pike, of Farrer and Co, had phoned The Mail on Sunday to say it was ‘categorically untrue’ that Tindall had gone to a second bar with the woman.

He said: ‘They did not go to a second bar. He was shoved in a taxi by some mates back to his hotel.’

The call was designed to stop a story, quoting witnesses who had seen the couple, from going to press last weekend.

When The Mail on Sunday contacted Tindall and Zara’s spokeswoman at Juniper Sport PR last Saturday at 3.59pm for a comment about our story, she said: ‘We won’t be making any comment. If I have any other questions, I’ll come back to you.’

At 7.04pm, she called back to confirm that the bar in our story was called Cowboys.

Hotspot: The Cowboys Bar where Tindall went with the mystery blonde after leaving Altitude

At that point she added: ‘Mike wasn’t in that bar. Mike wasn’t in any bar. Mike went home after Altitude. This is totally not for printing. We have no comment on this story.

‘Off the record, he did not go to any bar after Altitude bar. He went back to his hotel. The team hotel. I don’t want to be quoted on any of this. I’m just telling you that he did not go to another bar.’

But on Friday, after our continuing investigations confirmed the existence of date-stamped CCTV footage proving beyond doubt that Tindall was in Cowboys with the blonde, the player finally admitted that he was there. Tindall’s public relations company Juniper Sport issued a statement pinning the blame on its client.

It said: ‘Mike Tindall gave his PR consultants and the Rugby Football Union his assurance that he had not attended the Cowboys bar, having left the Altitude bar.

‘In good faith, his PR consultants, the RFU and the RFU’s solicitors relied upon that assurance when dealing with last week’s story.

‘However, Mike now accepts that his recollection was incorrect and he apologises unreservedly for this misjudgment.’

Tindall now faces explaining to Zara – who left New Zealand early last week but is expected to return to watch him in the later stages of the Rugby World Cup - why he tried to cover up his visit to Cowboys. Its owner Leo Molloy earlier confirmed that Tindall and the blonde had been captured on the bar’s high-tech CCTV cameras.

But he refused to show the video, saying: ‘Our position is that if it’s not a crime, then we won’t release the footage. Rooting [having sex] isn’t a crime in New Zealand.’

A witness who has viewed the Cowboys video said it could create severe matrimonial friction for Tindall, who only married Zara at the end of July. It shows the blonde chatting to other members of the England party as well as planting kisses on a clearly-drunk Tindall.

Clips of the film have been shown to Mail on Sunday journalists in response to Tindall’s denials that he was at the bar.

In the earlier CCTV footage from Altitude, leaked on to YouTube by bouncer Jonathan Dixon, Tindall was alone with the blonde while other players had left.

In Cowboys, he appears to have rejoined a party of at least half a dozen players and people from the England party.

‘What might upset Zara about the Cowboys video is that he’s surrounded by people who she probably knows and who she might have expected to step in and tell him to behave himself,’ the witness said.

‘Instead, you can see that they act as if they know the woman and aren’t at all surprised to see her and Tindall getting cosy with each other.’

Another person who has viewed the video said: ‘You can see by the way she moves and conducts her-self that she is a middle-class, Home Counties girl. She is socially confident and seems to know the England players and the people with them well.

Man of action: Tindall played for England in their victory over Scotland yesterday

‘It looks from the way she chats to other members of the England party, and touches them on the arm, that they know her, too, and they are very friendly and familiar with her.’

Describing the blonde’s antics with Tindall in Cowboys, the first witness said: ‘She is extremely flirty and does 99 per cent of the running while Tindall sits slumped in his seat.

‘She’s a very good-looking girl and she knows it. She goes over and kisses him and tries to drag him up to dance but you can see he’s too trashed to get out of his seat - so she leaves him there and comes back to him from time to time.

‘He only kisses her back once. In every other case, it’s she who kissed him - she’s obviously making a big play for him.’

In one CCTV sequence, the blonde kisses Tindall full on the lips as he sits in his seat. In another, she walks behind Tindall in a corridor next to the toilets in Cowboys and stops to chat to another woman who is with the England party.

The final film sequence shows the blonde leaving the bar with Tindall shortly after 3am while a friend, believed to be a fellow England player, helps to support the newly-wed, who bumps into a wall and can barely stand.

There is no suggestion that the blonde went anywhere else with Tindall after Cowboys. Other witnesses have said Tindall took a taxi back to the team hotel alone.

The second witness said: ‘It is possible that Tindall has no recollection of going to Cowboys and that’s why he denied it. But there were other people from the England party in the bar, so he must have checked out what happened with them.’

Filmed on 16 high-definition digital security cameras, the Cowboys video is much clearer than the relatively grainy images from the Altitude bar. In one sequence, the blonde’s face is clearly visible as she walks in the corridor outside the bar’s toilets.

Zara Phillips’ spokesman has said the woman in the video – who looks to be in her early 30s - is an old friend of the couple who attended their wedding and lives in Australia. Tindall has reportedly told Zara that the woman is a former girlfriend.

Jonathan Dixon, 40, the bouncer who claims he leaked the CCTV footage of Tindall - who was injured in England’s 16-12 World Cup win over Scotland yesterday - and the blonde in Altitude on to YouTube partly because he was ‘outraged’ by what he called Tindall’s ‘sleazy’ behaviour, is due to make a second court appearance in Queenstown tomorrow, accused of accessing a computer system for a dishonest purpose.

The TV advert that talks to your DOG! Pet food firm uses sounds humans can't hear to make Fido sit up and take notice

If you already think your pet is a fussy eater, be prepared for an even pickier pooch as pet food makers have launched a TV ad only dogs can hear.

Nestle has made an advert using a high-pitched sound, like a dog whistle, which is beyond human hearing range.

The commercial, which also includes an audible squeak like the sound of a dogs’ toy, will be screened for the first time in Austria this week.

His master's voice: Adverts will now target your dog with sounds beyond the range of human hearing

Nestle said in a statement that the idea came from an award-winning campaign in Germany that featured 'sniffable' posters to attract dogs.

The company is one of the world's biggest makers of pet food, with its Petcare division accounting for almost 12 per cent of the firm's revenue.

The 23-second advert Beneful dog food was created using the help of U.S. experts in pet behaviour, who researched what would appeal to dogs.

'The television commercial aims to reach both the pet and the owner, supporting the special one-to-one relationship between them,' said Xavier Perez, brand manager for Beneful in Europe.

Puppy power: Dogs may be putting the pressure on their owners after they see the Nestle adverts

Barking: Nestle are hoping to persuade people to buy their pet food with the high-pitched sounds

The advert shows a dogs pricking up its ears and ends with the words 'So delicious, so healthy, so happy' in German.

Georg Sanders, a nutrition expert at Nestle Purina PetCare in Germany, said: 'Dogs' hearing is twice as sharp as humans.

'They can pick up frequencies which are beyond our range and they are better at differentiating sounds.'

Nestle’s Petcare division have this year reported first-half sales of £3.4billion.

Britain bakes on the hottest October day for 100 YEARS... and there's still days of sunshine to come!

By Daily Mail Reporter

Hot on the heels of the warmest end to September on record, today was Britain’s most scorching October day in more than a century.

Just four weeks before the clocks go back for winter, Britain is in the middle of an Indian summer like no other with sizzling temperatures expected to continue into early next week.

Met Office confirmed today's top temperature of 29.9c (85.82f) in Gravesend, Kent, was the hottest October day recorded since its records began in 1910.

Can you believe it's October? People flocked to Brighton beach today as temperatures across the country soared, making it the hottest October for 26 years

Don't step on my sandcastle! There was hardly room to move on Brighton beach this afternoon as thousands of people threw down their winter coats and dug out their swimwear

Going swimmingly: Young men relax on the River Cam in Cambridge as temperatures climbed today to 29.5c, the hottest October in 26 years

Basking: Sharna Kamber and Lisa Lou enjoy the sunshine in Gravesend where the temperatures reached 29.5c at 13.27 today

Taking a dip: A tourist enjoys the pools of Trafalgar Square as temperatures across the UK rose today, with some experts predicting it could reach 30c by 3pm

A spokeswoman said: 'The temperature in Gravesend in Kent was reading 29.5C at 13:27 and still rising. This beats the previous record of 29.4 C recorded at March in Cambridgeshire on 1st October 1985.'

Tourism chiefs said hotels in Brighton and Bournemouth were almost all full as up to 400,000 sun worshippers were expected to flood to the resorts over the weekend.

Tesco predicted it would sell an extra 3.5million sausages in the next three days compared with the number it usually would at the start of October.

Like a summer holiday: Sizzling temperatures meant pubs and fish and chip shops did a roaring trade, especially at Brighton beach

Making a splash: A man carries his daughter out of the water of the Serpentine, in Hyde Park, today

Splash happy: Akshiga Vigithbabu, 4, plays in the water fountains outside the MIMA Gallery, Middlesbrough, today

Playtime: Children play in inflatable spheres in a pool on Brighton beach today

Warm daybreak: An early morning jogger makes the most of the sunshine today in Cambridge

Sizzling temperatures: Children in the centre of Sheffield play in a fountain

Taking a break: A man sleeps on two deck chairs on Brighton pier as thousands flocked to the seaside town to enjoy the rare October sunshine

It also expected to sell 550,000 burgers, ten million bottles and cans of beer, three million bottles of wine and 500,000 tubs of ice cream over the weekend.

The heatwave – triggered by high pressure to the east which has brought southerly winds from France and the Mediterranean – even compelled the RSPCA to reissue its traditional summer warning about the dangers of leaving pets in hot cars.

The past two days have been the hottest September 29 and 30 since records began.

Met Office forecaster Dave Britton said yesterday’s warmest spot was Cambridge, which recorded 29.2c (85f) – hotter than the Costa del Sol, Turkey, Cuba and Mexico.

It was around ten degrees above average for the start of autumn.

The previous record for the last day of September was 27.8c (82f), set in 1908 in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Jonathan Powell, senior forecaster at Positive Weather Solutions, a network of UK-based independent meteorologists, predicted a 60 per cent chance that temperatures could hit 32c (90f) in the south today.

And Mr Britton said: ‘I will not be surprised if temperatures reach 30c (86f) in parts of the south.’

He added: ‘The high temperatures will continue through Sunday, but by Tuesday temperatures will start to slip back towards the average for this time of year.’

Here it comes: The sun rises over River Thames this morning ahead of what was the hottest October day in 26 years

Beachgoers bask in the sunshine at Seaburn this morning where the heatwave has brought people outside to make the most of the Indian summer

The unexpected bout of good weather is confusing garden plants, which have been tricked into blooming for a second time this year.

Even night-time temperatures have been as high as 63f (17c) across the country – usually the average in the daytime in September.

There has barely been a cloud in the sky across England and the good weather is set to continue until Tuesday, when westerly winds will bring cooler temperatures and a chance of showers.

However, some areas of the UK are missing out on the record temperatures.

Northern Ireland was covered in cloud yesterday, although still feeling quite warm.

In Scotland, rain was threatening the north west and could move down as far as northern areas of England.

But there were fears that while the hot weather would boost tourism, it would be another blow for Britain’s struggling retailers as sun-worshippers stayed away from the shops, which are already selling winter coats and knitwear for autumn.

Nick Bubb, retail analyst at Arden Partners, said sales of barbecues and ice creams would not make up for the shortfall.

Summer leaves in the fall: Esme McDonald, six, from Darlington, County Durham, enjoys the the warm autumn weather today

Picnic time: Members of the public enjoy the warm weather beside Virginia Water at The Royal Landscape, Surrey

‘Retailers need cold autumnal weather,’ he said. ‘It’s a big problem at a time when consumers don’t feel like spending anyway.’

It was a different story in Scotland and Northern Ireland where rain was falling and temperatures were struggling to get into the mid-teens.

In Belfast it was raining and it was more of a case of grabbing an umbrella than sunscreen.

Rachel Vince, senior meteorologist with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said much of central and southern England was enjoying unseasonably high temperatures. Humberside and Bradford had both hit around 28C.

Miss Vince said the fine weather was expected to last until the middle of next week in the South East corner of the UK, then drop to a fresher 18-20C.

Other parts of the UK could expect more rain in coming days but 'nothing particularly stormy or horrendous', she added.
